Founder

Mr. Epstein founded Prophet Capital Management Ltd. in 1995.  Prophet Capital Management Ltd. served as the initial general partner of Partners in Prophet Ltd., a hedge fund specializing in mortgage-backed securities, which began trading in 1999.  Mr. Epstein later formed Prophet Capital Asset Management LP in 2008 with the arrival of new partners.  In 1992, Mr. Epstein founded Arbour Financial Corporation, a mortgage-backed securities specialist focused on institutional clients.  In 1995, Arbour was sold to a private investor group and later renamed Amherst Securities Group, a fixed-income specialist focusing on mortgage-related investments for institutional customers.  Mr. Epstein began his career as a mortgage derivatives trader at Westcap Securities.  Mr. Epstein holds a B.A. degree from the Plan II Honors Program at the University of Texas at Austin, which he received in 1987.

Chief Investment Officer

Mr. Rosenblum joined Prophet Capital as a Managing Partner in 2009 and assumed the role of Chief Investment Officer in 2020.  He began his career at Goldman Sachs as a trader in the Mortgage Department in 1992.  For the next fifteen years, Mr. Rosenblum structured and traded a wide variety of mortgage-backed securities.  He changed roles in 2006 to head up the Collateralized Loan Obligation group.  In early 2008, Mr. Rosenblum joined Goldman Sachs Asset Management as head of Structured Credit Portfolio Management.  In this role, he built portfolios of distressed RMBS, CMBS and CLO securities.  In December 2008, in the midst of the Great Financial Crisis, Mr. Rosenblum was additionally asked to be the sole GSAM professional dedicated to help implement and manage the U.S. Federal Reserve’s US$1.25 trillion Agency MBS Mortgage Purchase Program.  Mr. Rosenblum earned a B.A. in Mathematics, summa cum laude, from Amherst College in 1992.

Chief Operating Officer and Chief Compliance Officer

Mr. Rechner joined Prophet Capital as Chief Operating Officer in 2009 and was promoted to Partner in 2016.  He is also the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer.  Mr. Rechner served nine years as the President and Chief Operating Officer of a publicly traded broker-dealer/registered investment advisor specializing in distressed fixed income and mortgage-backed securities markets.  Mr. Rechner began his career at San Antonio Savings Association in 1985 as a portfolio manager overseeing a US $1.5 billion fixed income portfolio.  He then took on senior management roles in financial services institutions where he broadened his operational, finance and management experience.  Mr. Rechner earned a B.S degree in Business Administration from the University of Illinois in 1984 and an MBA from Trinity University in 1985.  He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Murphy joined Prophet Capital as Chief Financial Officer in 2015.  Prior to joining Prophet, he was Senior Controller for AEGON Asset Management, a global asset management firm with over US $250 billion in assets under management.  Mr. Murphy had overall responsibility for the financial operation of the U.S. country unit.  In this role, he was a key leader in strategic acquisitions and dispositions as well as implementing new technology to streamline and automate the business.  His knowledge base of products and initiatives focused on balance sheet leverage transactions, interest rate arbitrage products, RMBS, CMBS, ABS, structured products, securitizations, and synthetic CDOs.  Prior to joining AEGON he was an auditor with PricewaterhouseCoopers.  Mr. Murphy earned a B.B.A. degree in Accounting from the University of Iowa in 1993.
